Trueba, Gardiner sweep Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Week Awards

BRISTOL, Tenn. – It was a good week for the King University men's and women's golf teams at their home tournament on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, two individuals earned Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Week honors. Samuel Trueba took home honors on the men's side while Sasha Gardiner earned the distinction on the women's side.

Trueba posted his second straight top 10 finish to start the year, winning his first tournament as a Tornado. At the King University Invitational he posted a tournament total of two-under 138. He opened the tournament with a round of two-under 68 before carding an even-par 70 to win the tournament by one stroke.

Gardiner had her best tournament of the season this week, finishing runner-up at the King University Invitational. On what was a tough course, Gardiner shot an opening round of 76 before finishing with a round of 79. Her tournament total of 155 landed her a runner-up finish. It was her sixth career top five finish and ninth time in the top 10, including her second top 10 this season.

The Tornado women are in action again on October 4-5 at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational hosted at the Salisbury Country Club in Salisbury, N.C. The men return to the course the following week at the Queens University Fall Invitational at the Irish Creek Golf Course in Charlotte, N.C.
