BRISTOL, Tenn. – Taking on Emmanuel College for the second time in three days, the King University women's basketball team dropped a 70-47 contest. The Tornado got off to a slow start and couldn't recover.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Neither team got off to a hot start as the first basket for each team came more than three minutes into the contest.
- Brianna Dunbar connected on back-to-back three-point baskets to pull King within 9-8 midway through the period.
- King scored the final four points of the period on a pair of Jada Campbell free throws and a Caroline Harville basket, but Emmanuel led 13-12 after the opening 10 minutes.
Second Period
- Emmanuel scored the first nine points of the period over the opening three minutes before Ryleigh Fritz got the Tornado on the board with a layup.
- The Lions then went on an 11-0 run before Jhayda McKinney made a three-point basket in the final minute, cutting the King deficit to 38-19 at the break.
Third Period
- Fritz and Jaden Potts connected from long range in the third period, but each time the Lions had an answer to extend their lead.
- A Fritz basket in the final minute of the quarter cut the King deficit to 52-33 going to the fourth period.
Fourth Period
- A Madee Denton triple started the final stanza and pulled King within 52-36, but the Lions came back with 10 straight points to take a 62-36 lead.
- King couldn't get the offense going as Emmanuel took the contest 70-47.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Dunbar led King with 14 points while Fritz followed with nine points.
- McKinney added seven points and four rebounds while Trinity Lee posted four points, five rebounds and three assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Jazmin Allen led Emmanuel with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
- Sydney Wyatt posted 12 points and eight rebounds while Reyonna Hopkins scored 12 points.
- Allison Smith and Jeanetta Elder added 11 points apiece.
UP NEXT
- King closes out the regular season with four straight home games, starting on Wednesday against North Greenville University. Tipoff from the Student Center Complex is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
- Emmanuel travels to Southern Wesleyan University on Wednesday night.
