BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team fell to the University of Charleston, 3-0 Saturday afternoon despite 12 kills from
Jackson Carroll and 23 set assists from
AJ Drooker.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- King scored three of the first four points, with Kellan Kennedy, Justin Sawyer and Carroll all picking up kills.
- The Tornado would eventually build a 17-9 lead after back-to-back kills from Carroll.
- The Golden Eagles would score eight of the next nine points to get to within 18-17.
- After three consecutive Tornado points, including a service ace from Sawyer and a kill from Sean Haberthy, Charleston would go on a 8-1 run to win the set, 25-22.
Second Set
- The Golden Eagles opened the second set scoring 11 of the first 14 points, going up 11-3.
- The lead eventually reached 17-7 before Warren Davis picked up a kill and Kennedy recorded a block.
- Charleston built what was a 21-11 lead before a setting error and an ace courtesy of Carroll brought the Tornado to within 21-13.
- The Golden Eagles would close the set on a 4-1 run, winning 25-14.
Third Set
- Charleston scored the first three points of the set, before Kennedy recorded a pair of kills, coupled with an attack error that tied the set at three.
- King took a 5-4 lead, after a kill from Carroll and an attack error, but the Golden Eagles quickly tied the set before taking the lead.
- After the Tornado tied the set at nine, the Golden Eagled scored three consecutive points to go ahead 12-9.
- King was able to stay within striking distance, including 16-13, which came after a Milstead kill.
- After Charleston took a 21-16 advantage, they would score the final four points of the set, winning 25-16 and taking the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- This was the second time this week that Carroll finished with double digit kills after a 15-kill performance Thursday.
- Drooker finished with 23 set assists, along with three digs.
- Drooker and Kennedy both had a pair of block assists on the afternoon, with Kennedy adding a solo block as well.
FOR THE FOES
- Lachlan Bray led the Charleston attack with 11 kills, with Garret Schnitker contributing 10.
- Veit Bils had five blocks, four of which were assists and one which was a solo block.
- Joonatan Salpakari had seven digs in the Charleston back row.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will be on the road for their next matchup, facing Tusculum Tuesday night, with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
- Charleston will be back at home Friday, hosting Thomas More University.
