BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's basketball team had three players score in double figures Wednesday night, but were unable to keep pace with Emmanuel College, falling 86-68 in Conference Carolinas action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- After taking over two minutes for either team to score, it was the Tornado who found the bottom of the hoop first on a Brandon Lamberth fastbreak jumper.
- Lamberth hit a layup at the 14:32 mark to give King an 8-7 lead, which the Tornado extended to 15-12 after another Lamberth layup.
- The Lions hit a bucket with 10:59 left, starting what would end up being a 10-3 run, taking a 25-19 lead with just over eight minutes to play.
- Coming out of a timeout, Emmanuel picked up where they left off, eventually taking a 41-28 advantage with 2:14 remaining.
- The Tornado were unable to get their offense going in the final two minutes, while Emmanuel continued to score, taking a 47-31 lead into the halftime break.
Second Half
- After trading buckets in the first five minutes, the Tornado started to chip into the lead, as Darron Howard hit a fastbreak jumper with 13:32 left, bringing the Tornado to within 60-48.
- A short time later, Kenny Turner would grab an offensive rebound and throw down a thunderous dunk, making the score 60-50.
- The Lions maintained a 10 point advantage up until Myles McCrary hit a couple of free throws, getting King to within single digits with 7:33 left on the clock.
- Michael Mays hit a jumper with 5:49 left to make it an eight-point game, but the Emmanuel offense was too much, as a 7-0 run gave them a insurmountable 77-62 advantage with just under five minutes left.
- Jaylen Bernard found his way onto the scoresheet late with a three, but the Lions were able to dribble out the clock, claiming the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Mays and Turner both had 17 points for the Tornado, while Lamberth finished with 14.
- Turner also led the Tornado rebounding, pulling eight, five of which came on the offensive end.
FOR THE FOES
- Kelvin Jones led all scorers, dropping 27 points on five rebounds and four assists. Tavarus Webb had 19, while Jeremiah Francis and Kendall Latney both scored 12 points each.
- Latney recorded a double-double, also pulling 11 rebounds, including eight defensive boards.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will now embark on a three-game road trip, starting Saturday with a matchup against Mount Olive, with tipoff set for 6:00 p.m.
- Emmanuel will host Southern Wesleyan Saturday afternoon.
