FAIRFAX, Va. –
Warren Davis had eight kills for the King University men's volleyball team Saturday afternoon, but the Tornado fell to George Mason University, 3-0 in a nonconference contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Patriots scored four of the first five points before a pair of attack errors brought the Tornado to within 4-3.
- After a Davis kill tied the score at six, George Mason scored nine of the next 10 points to open up a 15-7 advantage.
- The lead would continue to grow to 20-10 before Colton Bueter and Aaron Milstead teamed up for a block, which Bueter followed with a service ace to make it 20-12.
- The Patriots would go to set point, up 24-13 where the Tornado scored a pair of points, pulling to within 24-15 before the Patriots took the final point, winning the set 25-15.
Second Set
- George Mason took an early 8-2 lead, before Bueter had a kill to bring King to within 8-3.
- After the Patriots took a 15-7 lead, Sean Haberthy and Bueter picked up a block right after a service error to make it 16-9.
- The Patriots would eventually go ahead 22-13 before Davis picked up another kill, but George Mason would close the set scoring three of the final four points, taking the set 25-15.
Third Set
- The Tornado scored the first three points of the set, with Davis contributing a pair of kills and Bueter adding one as well.
- After King took a 4-1 lead, the Patriots scored three straight to tie the set at four.
- The lead would continue to go back-and-forth until the Patriots took a 11-10 lead, starting what would turn out to be a run of seven consecutive points, going ahead 17-10.
- George Mason would stay hot throughout the rest of the set, eventually winning 25-17 to take the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Davis finished with eight kills, along with a block assist and six digs.
- Bueter finished with five kills, while Mason Martindale had seven digs and a pair of kills.
- AJ Drooker had 14 set assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Liam French had 10 kills for the Patriots, while Jack Bolz finished with nine.
- Bolz and Paul Wyszynski both had six digs on the night.
- Georgi Zahariev handed out 25 set assists on the evening.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will return to Conference Carolinas action Friday when they play at Mount Olive, with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
- The Patriots will host the University of Charleston on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
