WISE, Va. – The King University baseball team played in their second slugfest in as many days. However, the Tornado were on the short end on Wednesday, falling at UVA Wise 20-9 on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise took the lead in the first inning, scoring eight runs. A two-run double from Morgan Miller and two-run home run from Nick Badgett highlighted the frame.
- Lathrop got King on the board with a groundball that plated a run before doubles from Valentin and Goodwin plated two more runs to pull King within 8-3 in the second inning.
- UVA Wise plated a pair in the bottom of the second before a Lathrop single scored Spivey in the top the third, cutting the King deficit to 10-4.
- However, the Cavaliers added two more in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 12-4.
- The King offense picked up in the fifth inning, scoring five runs.
- Run scoring singles from Chase Hilliard and Garret Huffman highlighted the frame that pulled King within 12-9.
- Nevertheless, Matt Frye hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning to stretch the Cavalier lead to 14-9.
- UVA Wise extended the lead to 16-9 with a bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.
- The Cavaliers ended the game in the seventh inning with a two-out grand slam from Cole Harness to take the contest 20-9.
FOR THE FOES
- Badgett went 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot with three walks, five runs scored and two runs batted in.
- Harness drove in six and scored four tuns on two hits.
- Miller drove in two and scored twice on two hits.
