- Mount Olive then scored four runs in the second inning, coming in three straight hits, two doubles and taking a 6-2 lead on a groundout that scored the final run.
- The Tornado bounced back as the first two runners of the third inning reached base before a Steele double plated one and put runners on second and third.
- A wild pitch scored one before a Conner Hyatt sacrifice fly scored Steele and cut the King deficit to 6-5.
- Mount Olive extended the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth and added three runs in the fifth on a Vito Patierno double, giving the Trojans an 11-5 lead.
