Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The King University baseball team took an early 3-0 lead Saturday, but Barton would rally to win 11-3, taking game one of a three-game Conference Carolinas series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It took just four batters for King to score, as Steele reached base on a fielding error, allowing Hall to score the first run of the contest.
- After Levi Medford drew a walk, Renwick singled, bringing in a pair of runs and stretching the King lead to 3-0.
- The Bulldogs scored a pair of runs in their half of the first, trimming the lead to 3-2.
- After two consecutive innings of Barton leaving runners on base, they tied the game on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth, which would turn into a inning-ending double play, with the tying run scoring.
- Barton finally pulled ahead in the sixth, on a two-RBI single that put them ahead, 5-3.
- The Bulldogs scored five runs in the seventh on five hits to open up a 10-3 lead. They would add one in the eighth on a leadoff solo home run.
- King was able to get a baserunner in the ninth when Jake Lathrop reached base on an error by the shortstop, but a flyout ended the inning, and the game.
FOR THE FOES
- Carelle Gonzalez and Tanner Halvorson both had a home run on the day for the Bulldogs, with Gonzalez driving in three runs.
- Jared Beebe was 3-for-5.
- Patrick Groark got the win, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings, with five strikeouts in relief.
