DUNCAN, S.C. – The top seeded King University softball team fell to fifth seed Barton College on Saturday. The Bulldogs manufactured a pair of runs, and held off the Tornado offense to take the contest 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Barton put a runner on third following a one-out walk, but Savana Luper got the final out to end the inning.
- In the third, Barton put runners on second and third, but Luper again got out of the inning.
- Camryn Haag and Haylee Dye laced singles in the Tornado half of the third, but Miranda Holmes got out of the inning for the Bulldogs.
- Luper left a pair of Bulldogs stranding in the fourth before an Erin Foster single and Thompson double put Tornado runners on second and third with one out.
- However, Holmes got the next two outs to end the inning and keep the game scoreless.
- Barton took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning a hit-by-pitch, two wild pitches and a groundout plated the first run.
- The Bulldogs later took advantage of an error to take a 2-0 lead.
- Jessica Campbell laced a one-out single and Dye was hit by a pitch to put two runners one.
- Campbell then scored on a defensive miscue, however, Holmes got the final two outs to leave runners in first and second and keep Barton in the lead at 2-1.
- The Bulldogs threatened with runners on second and third with one out in the sixth, but Luper got out of the inning to keep the Tornado within one run.
- Lawson worked a two-out walk, but was left there as Barton took the contest 2-1.
