SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Taylor Stubbs scored twice Wednesday night, including a penalty kick goal in the 89th minute to help the King University women's soccer team to a 3-2 road win over Conference Carolinas divisional rival Converse University.
Ella Froehlich had the other goal, the first of her young Tornado career.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Valkyries were the first to get on the board, finding the back of the net in the seventh minute to take an early lead.
- The first shot for the Tornado came in the 19th minute, when Froehlich found the lower left corner of the goal, evening the score at one.
- Froehlich had another scoring chance in the 39th minute, but was unable to beat the keeper this time.
- The Tornado also were awarded a corner kick just before the end of the half, but couldn't convert.
- Coming out of halftime, it took under two minutes for the Tornado to score, as Stubbs took a pass from Izzy Clark and went lower right to put King in front 2-1.
- The Valkyries had a pair of scoring chances in the 58th minute after being awarded a penalty kick, but Kristal Garcia made a pair of saves to shut down the scoring threat.
- Converse scored in the 81st minute, leveling the score at two.
- After the Valkyries were assessed a yellow card for a foul inside the box in the 89th minute, Stubbs stepped up and scored her second of the night, putting King in front 3-2.
- That would stand as the final score, as Converse was unable to even get a shot off in the closing seconds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- It was the first career goal for Froehlich, in just her sixth career game.
- For Stubbs, this is her first career multi-goal game, and her sixth career goal.
- Garcia finished with a season-high 12 saves.
FOR THE FOES
- Brooklyn Galler and Ellie Gore were the goal scorers for the Valkyries.
- Kiersten Schrawyer had two saves in net.

- The Tornado will wrap up their road trip Saturday afternoon with a nonconference matchup with Bob Jones University. Kickoff from Greenville, S.C. is set for 1 p.m.
