BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's basketball team dropped a Conference Carolinas contest Wednesday night, falling 64-47 to Belmont Abbey College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Jhayda McKinney got the Tornado on the board, hitting a three at the 7:58 mark, making the score 5-3 Crusaders.
- Jaden Potts added a three of her own a few minutes later before Le'Aije Ellington hit a driving layup and the ensuing free throw, making the score 16-9 Crusaders after one.
Second Period
- After Jaelyn West knocked down a triple, Ashley Allen hit a layup, pulling King to within 20-14 with 6:24 to play.
- Jakae Jones got her first playing time of the season, hitting a driving layup with 4:52 left, which Brianna Dunbar followed up with a pair of free throws to make the score 23-18.
- Allen hit another layup with 43 seconds to play, bringing the score to 31-20 Belmont Abbey entering halftime.
Third Period
- Raven Addison hit a three at the 4:59 mark, which was followed by a jumper from Torey Walker, pulling the Tornado to within 45-26.
- After Jones hit a free throw, Torey Walker hit a turn around jumper, putting the score at 48-29 heading to the fourth.
Fourth Period
- Jaelyn West hit a pair of free throws, followed quickly by Jaylasia Office nailing a three, pulling King to 53-36.
- After Melissa Gallegos hit a pair of free throws, Morgan Bone closed the game with a three, though the Crusaders held on for a 64-47 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- A season-high 14 Tornado scored points.
- Allen, Torey Walker and Alexa Gramann all had five rebounds, while Office had a team-high three assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Peyton Nation had a double-double, finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
- Abigail Crain added 14, with nine rebounds and two assists.
