TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The King University women's basketball team's comeback fell short in Saturday afternoon's match up against the North Greenville Trailblazers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- The Tornado scored first on a Le'Aije Ellington driving layup before the two teams traded baskets.
- By the end of the first quarter, North Greenville had an 18-8 lead. Mariya Williams scored on both her attempts from the field.
Second Quarter
- While the trailblazers scored first in the quarter, King then went on a 15-0 run that started with Alayna Smith's layup at 8:46 and concluded with Alexa Gramann's jump shot at 3:25 to give the Tornado the lead back.
- Ashley Allen scored all six of her points in the game during that run.
- However, North Greenville scored seven unanswered before heading to the halftime locker room with a 30-25 lead.
Third Quarter
- The comeback effort was in full swing out of the locker room as King went on a 9-1 run to open the period, beginning with five straight points from Williams.
- Both teams traded baskets keeping the game within one possession but North Greenville took a one point lead into the final period.
Fourth Quarter
- Williams and Thompson scored to give King back a lead at the 8:20 mark in the quarter, but the Trailblazers took the lead on the following possession.
- North Greenville would retain the lead as King loses their first conference game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Mariya Williams led the team with 14 points and 4 steals. She also recorded 6 rebounds.
- Le'Aije Ellington and Sarah Thompson each scored 8 points. Thompson added 7 rebounds. Ashley Allen had a team-high 8 rebounds.
- The Tornado scored 32 of their 50 points in the paint and scored 21 points off second chance points.
FOR THE FOES
- Amaijah Smith led all scorers with 18 points and five assists. Abi Oates was second on the team with 9 points.
- Maliyiah Mason had a game-high 9 rebounds and Ja'Mari Frederick had 6 steals.
