BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Mikhail Pocknett scored 32 points Saturday night, but despite a second-half rally the King University men's basketball team fell to visiting Emmanuel University, 85-71.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- The Lions took an early 12-3 lead before Cam George hit a jumper at the 17:04 mark.
- The lead reached 22-8 with 12:48 left, after which King was able to pull to 25-14 at the 10:31 mark.
- Dylan Gory hit three free throws, bringing the Tornado to within 30-17, though Emmanuel quickly stretched the lead to 40-19 with 5:30 left in the half.
- There was a flurry of scoring just under three minutes left, as Pocknett and George both hit threes for King, bringing the Tornado to within 46-28 with 1:46 remaining.
- The Lions scored the final four points of the half, taking a 50-28 lead into halftime.
Second Half
- Emmanuel scored eight of the first 12 points of the half, taking a 58-32 lead with 16:39 remaining.
- The Tornado then started to close the gap, going on a 10-2 scoring run that saw Pocknett score six points, pulling the Tornado to within 60-42.
- A short time later, the Tornado went on a 17-3 scoring run, with Pocknett scoring 12 of those points as the Tornado pulled to within single digits, 67-59 with 6:44 remaining.
- The Lions quickly re-extended their lead, scoring 11 of the next 15 points to take a 78-63 lead with just over three minutes left.
- Emmanuel went 5-for-6 from the free throw line in the closing minutes, hanging on for the 85-71 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Pocknett's 32 points fell one point shy of tying his career-high in points. It did set a new season-high, and is the first time this season he has scored 30+ points.
- Jordan Akal scored 10 points, while Seth Cullen finished with nine and seven rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
- Tavarus Webb scored 28 points to lead Emmanuel, along with a team-high nine rebounds. He shot 9-of-10 from the free throw line and also had seven assists.
- Chris Dees finished with 19 points, while Kendall Latney had 16 points on the afternoon.
