King falls at Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The King University men's volleyball team took to the road for a Conference Carolinas match at Emmanuel University on Friday night. The Tornado nearly came back to win the second set, but the Lions took that set and the third set to win the match 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
  • The Lions got off to a hot start, taking a 7-2 advantage.
  • King later trailed by eight points, but fought back with a 4-1 run to pull within 15-10 on consecutive kills form Grayson Stoudt and Warren Davis.
  • However, Emmanuel responded, extending their lead to nine points and eventually taking the set 25-18.
Second Set
  • The set was tight as the Lions took a 15-12 lead midway through the set.
  • King came back and evened the score at 18 on a Davis kill.
  • However, the Lions responded with a 4-1 run to take a 23-19 lead.
  • The Tornado came back with a 5-1 run, evening the score at 24 as Stoudt accounted for a kill and an ace on the spurt.
  • The set was tied again at 25 and 26 before the Lions scored the final two points to take the set 28-26.
Third Set
  • The Lions used a 6-0 run to take a 9-3 lead and gain the advantage in the set.
  • King couldn't recover from the Lions hot start as Emmanuel took the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Davis led King with 13 kills and 10 digs.
  • Stoudt and Zach Daniels followed with five kills apiece.
  • Andrew Haber handed out 25 assists and added six digs.
FOR THE FOES
  • Eli Zdonek led Emmanuel with 12 kills and three digs.
  • Aiden Feeney posted nine kills and three blocks while Arturo Diaz-Dube added seven kills and five blocks.
  • Abdallah Roshdy posted 32 assists while Nicklas Eichenberger added 15 digs.
UP NEXT
  • King travels to Erskine College on Saturday as first serve from Due West, S.C. is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
