DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University baseball team hit three home runs in the first game of their Conference Carolinas doubleheader at Erskine College on Thursday afternoon, but after taking the first game they fell in the second game, settling for a series split.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Huffman started the scoring in the second, hitting a solo home run to put King in front 1-0.
- King added two more in the third, when Patrick Corley singled through the left side to start the inning, advancing to third before scoring when Truman Roper hit a sacrifice fly.
- Evans was the next batter, and he hit a solo home run, stretching the lead to 3-0.
- Erskine hit a leadoff home run in the bottom to get on the board.
- Nathan Borchardt started the top of the fourth with a single, scoring when Medford went deep, putting King in front 5-1.
- After the Flying Fleet scored a pair in the bottom, Roper started the fifth with a double, scoring when Starrs singled to center field.
- Nuno picked up a pair of RBI in the sixth when he doubled to left center, driving in Patrick Corley and Medford.
- Erskine stayed close, scoring two runs in the sixth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth to pull to within 8-7.
- The Flying Fleet were able to get runners to second and third in the ninth, but Mitchell Kahlenberg was able to close the door, picking up the first conference win of the season for the Tornado.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- It was a pitcher's dual early, with neither team recording a run until Erskine hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 1-0 lead.
- They went on to score a total of nine runs on seven hits in the inning, taking a 9-0 lead.
- The Flying Fleet added eight more in the fifth, taking a 17-0 lead.
- Petie Pavusek hit a one-out double in the sixth, but the Tornado settled for a doubleheader split, falling 17-0.
