Mariya Williams led all scorers with 23 points, setting a career-high as the King University women's basketball team falls to North Greenville on Tuesday evening in an overall low scoring game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- Williams scored the Tornado's first points with a layup at the 8:26 mark.
- King scored seven unanswered points midway through the quarter but the Trailblazers responded with six straight of their own to take a 11-9 lead with a minute and a half to go. That score would remain as the quarter came to a close.
- While King would tie the game later on, the North Greenville team would lead the rest of the way.
Second Quarter
- Williams would score 10 of King's 12 second quarter points.
- Four of her shots came from the charity stripe while the rest came from layups.
- Sarah Thompson closed the first half with a buzzer beating fastbreak layup to close the gap to five.
Third Quarter
- Williams opened the second half with a jump shot in the paint and Le'Aije Ellington hit a three-pointer off a turnover to tie the game at 26 less than a minute into the third quarter.
- With a minute left in the period, North Greenville hit a three-pointer to give the Trailblazers their largest lead of the night at 43-33.
Fourth Quarter
- King held North Greenville scoreless for over five minutes. In that span, Alayna Smith and Thompson cut the Trailblazer lead to four.
- A pair of free throws from North Greenville were the final points of the game giving the Trailblazers the 55-46 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Mariya Williams hit a career-high 23 points shooting 8-18 from inside the arc and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. It's her first time hitting 20+ points in a single game. She also had a team-high 8 rebounds, seven of which were on the defensive end of the court.
- Sarah Thompson scored 10 points while Ashley Allen pulled down 5 rebounds.
- Le'Aije Ellington dished out a game- and season-high 4 assists and had a game-high 7 steals.
FOR THE FOES
- Amaijah Smith and Ja'Mari Frederick each scored 12 points to lead the Trailblazers.
- Maliyiah Mason had a game-high 9 rebounds. Smith and Grace Ikenegbu each had 7 rebounds – Ikenegbu's were all off the King glass. Smith also had a game-high 4 assists.
- Seven different players recorded a steal as the team tallied 9.
