Jefferson City, Tenn. – The King University men's basketball team wrapped up its weekend road trip with a high-paced matchup against UVA Wise on Sunday afternoon, falling 110–72 inside Holt Fieldhouse. Despite the final score, the Tornado (0–2, 0–0 Conference Carolinas) showed flashes of offensive rhythm and hustle, with several players stepping up in key moments.
First Half
King came out with energy, trading early buckets with the Cavaliers before UVA Wise found its rhythm from beyond the arc. The Cavaliers hit seven three-pointers in the first half and shot nearly 48 percent from the field to build a 53–33 lead at the break.
Lenier Pocknett led the Tornado with 10 first-half points and five rebounds, while
Xavier Betancourt added nine points and three steals to keep King within reach.
Second Half
The Tornado offense found more consistency in the second half, scoring 39 points and shooting 45 percent from three. Freshman
Keyton Keene provided a spark off the bench, knocking down three triples and finishing with nine points.
Betancourt continued his efficient play, finishing 6-of-7 from the field for 15 points, while Pocknett recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Despite the Cavaliers' hot shooting and deep bench production, King showed grit down the stretch, with 30 points coming from its reserves and 23 fast break points on the afternoon.
