BANNER ELK, N.C. – The King University women's basketball team fell to Lees-McRae on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lees-McRae scored the first basket and didn't trail for the rest of the game. King tied the game twice late into the first quarter off Le'Aije Ellington's baskets but the Bobcats had a ten-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
- King was able to tie because of a seven-point scoring run off Alayna Smith's free throws and Sarah Thomson's jumper and free throw.
- Ashley Allen scored two layups early in the second quarter. Ellington ended the first half with a two-point turnaround jump shot just before the buzzer.
- Mariya Williams scored King's first points of the second-half with a shot from the paint with 5:15 on the clock. This sparked a five-point run for the Tornado. However, the Bobcats increased their lead to 22 with just under two minutes to go in the quarter – their largest lead of the night.
- Ellington, Addison, Smith, and Allen contributed to a 7-0 run that bled into the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 15.
- Ashley Allen ended the game with a pair of free throws but Lees-McRae took the 11 point win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Three Tornado scored in double-digits, led by Ashley Allen with her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. 9 of her rebounds were off the King glass. She also had a team-high 3 steals.
- Le'Aije Ellington had 14 points including 2 shots from beyond the arc and Alayna Smith contributed 10 points off the bench.
- Mariya Williams had 9 rebounds with 7 on the defensive end of the court.
