BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team split a doubleheader with Fairmont State after falling in the first game 1-2 and winning the second by a score of 7-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
- Fairmont State scored first in the top of the third on a groundout RBI.
- King responded with a run in the bottom of the inning as Katie Ryan scored on a Alena Demakas ground out, after she reached based on a error by the third baseman.
- The Falcons scored what would become the winning run in the top of the fourth.
KING HIGHLIGHTS – GAME ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- Jessica Campbell got King on the board in the first inning. She singled to center before stealing second base. She was able to score on a Tori Ryan single to center field.
- The Tornado added to their lead in the third inning. Rachel Jardim hit a solo home run to right field as the second batter in the inning. Aviah Bunsic singled to center field before Carlie Sheets drove her in on a double to left center.
- Fairmont State got on the board in the top of the fourth scoring a run on a King error.
- Tori Ryan drove in Demakas and Warner on her double to left field in the fourth to make the score 5-1. Warner had opened the inning with a single before Demakas reached on a bunt.
- Sophia Waters struck out the first two Falcon batters in the top of the fifth inning before Alyssa Suits got an assist on a ground out.
- Autumn Campbell scored in the bottom of the fifth as a pitch runner for Sheets as K. Ryan grounded out to the shortstop.
- The Falcons scored another unearned run in the top of the sixth inning before King added their final run in the bottom of the inning.
- Fairmont State scored one final unearned run in the top of the seventh inning but the Tornado won the second game 7-3.
KING HIGHLIGHTS – GAME TWO
- Jessica Campbell had three hits, three stolen bases, and scored twice.
- Autumn Campbell had two stolen bases as a pinch runner. Alena Demakas and Alyssa Suits combined for three hits and each had a stolen base.
- Rachel Jardim's only hit came in the third inning with her home run. Tori Ryan and Carlier Sheets combined for three hits, including a double from each. T. Ryan recorded three RBIs.
- Six different Tornado players crossed the plate and five players recorded a walk.
- Sophia Waters went a complete seven innings in the circle, allowing five hits, three unearned runs, and striking out eight batters while walking just one.
