BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The King University baseball team set a program record Wednesday, scoring 33 runs in a 33-6 rout of Bluefield State.
Bhraedon Meredith picked up his first career win on the mount, while
Truman Roper,
Jacob Eargle and
Levi Medford all had multiple extra-base hits.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Medford had the lone home run of the day for King, along with a double.
- Roper and Eargle both had a pair of doubles
- Conner Hyatt and Jose Ruiz both had five hits at the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- King got the scoring started right away, as the first five batters reached base, including a two-RBI double from Michael Starrs, along with a two-RBI single from Hyatt to make it 5-0.
- After the Big Blue scored two runs in the bottom of the second, King exploded for 11 runs on 10 hits in the third, with Hyatt, Ryan Theobald, Roper, Eargle, Starrs, Medford and Ruiz all picking up RBI on the inning.
- Medford drove in a pair of those runs on a home run to right field that made it 13-2.
- Roper had three RBI, including a two-RBI double to left center that put the score at 16-2 in favor of the Tornado.
- The Tornado then added four more runs in the fourth, including RBI from Medford, Turner Stout, Theobald and Daniel Hicks, making it a 20-2 King lead.
- Bluefield State scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, before stranding a pair of Tornado baserunners in the fifth.
- King then scored five runs in the top of the seventh, including consecutive RBI by Stout and Hyatt, before Ruiz delivered an RBI single to put the lead at 25-6.
- The Tornado would score eight runs in the final two innings, including five in the top of the ninth, including a three-RBI double from Hyatt. Theobald and Hicks also had RBI singles to cap the score at 33-6.
FOR THE FOES
- Nick Diaz had the lone extra base hit, a home run, finishing 1-for-3.
- Angel Martinez was 1-for-2, with three walks on the game.
