BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University Vice President for Athletics Jose Larios has announced the hiring of Kenneth Shaw, LAT, ATC as the new Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer. Shaw, who has been serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at King since 2022 through its partnership with Holston Medical Group, will now lead the Tornado Sports Medicine Department.
Shaw brings more than a decade of athletic training experience at both the high school and collegiate levels, along with a proven commitment to student-athlete care. Since joining King, he has worked closely with the University's cycling, swimming, track, women's triathlon, and cheerleading programs, ensuring comprehensive health, safety, and rehabilitation support for Tornado student-athletes.
Prior to his time at King, Shaw served with Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, providing care to nearly 500 high school athletes, and as Head Athletic Trainer at Wharton Independent School District in Texas. He began his career as a student athletic trainer at Baylor University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Education.

Shaw, a Church Hill, Tennessee resident, expressed his enthusiasm for continuing his service at King in this expanded role. "It has been a privilege to work alongside the coaches, staff, and student-athletes here at King," Shaw said. "I look forward to building on that foundation and leading our Sports Medicine Department with a focus on faith, excellence, and the well-being of every student-athlete."
