Spartanburg, S.C. - The King University Women's Soccer team came up just short in a 2-1 loss to Converse University on Tuesday evening in Spartanburg, S.C. Despite a strong second-half push, the Tornado could not overcome an early deficit in the Conference Carolinas matchup at Hayden Abney Fulp Field at Weisiger Stadium.

Converse took the lead in the opening half, converting one of their eight first-half shots to go up 1-0 at the break. After halftime, the Tornado ramped up the pressure, firing 12 shots in the second half. However, Converse doubled their advantage with a second goal before King finally broke through.
Vodi Mangal scored for the Tornado off an assist from
Makenzie Simmons, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
King continued to press in search of an equalizer, but strong goalkeeping and timely Converse defense kept the Tornado at bay. King finished with 13 shots (three on target) and goalkeeper
Susan Schaaf made six saves to keep her team in the match.
