Bristol, Tenn. – The King University Acrobatics and Tumbling team hosted their first home meet this afternoon against Newberry, where they honored their Seniors after the meet. King was able to win in a dominant performance, not letting Newberry win a single event. King won 228.415 to Newberry's 172.765.

The Tornado started the day in the Compulsory event, where they had all four heats with a start value of 10. They scored a 7.15 in the Acro Heat, a 9.20 in the Pyramid Heat, an 8.95 in the Toss Heat, and finished with a 7.75 in the Tumbling Heat. They finished with a commanding lead of 33.05 to 20.45

Going into the second event, which was Acro. King started with a total value of 29.50 for the three heats. They scored 8.70 in the first heat, which was a 5-Element. They fought through prior mistakes in 6-Element and scored an 8.55. They moved on to the 7-Element heat, where they scored 9.05. Newberry was only able to score a total of 21.95 while King scored another 26.10, extending their lead.

The third event, Pyramid, saw King have a start value of 29.50 and Newberry with a 27.30. King kept the pressure up with the final event before the break. With scores of 8.95 in heat one Inversion, 8.55 in heat two Synchronized, and 9.60 in heat three Open, which was the highest scored single heat of the day. They scored a total of 27.10 while Newberry fell further behind with a score of 24.80.

After the break, they moved on to the fourth event, where King had their best overall performance, the Toss. King had a total start value of 27.30. They were able to score almost perfect for each of their events with an 8.50, 8.25, and 8.45 in 450 Salto, Synchronized, and Open, respectively. King was able to have a score differential of 2.10, their best per heat of the day.

The fifth event was Tumbling, which King started with a value of 52.35, and Newberry had a value of 36.90. King was able to extend their lead dramatically by almost 20 points, winning 47.475 to 27.925. Through the six heat events, the Tornado only left 4.88 points available through their routines.

King came in with a start value of 93.34, and Newberry had one of 76.74. Newberry went first and was able to come out with 54.44 points. King went second and was able to finish with a score of 69.49, finishing the day with a win. The final score was 228.415 for King and 172.765 for Newberry.
