Florence, S.C. – The King University Acrobatics and Tumbling team traveled to Florence this evening to compete against Francis Marion. King was able to win the meet off an early lead in the first event, not letting Francis Marion make the deficit up. King won 232.895 to Francis Marion 219.460.

The Tornado started the day in the Compulsory event, where they had all four heats with a start value of 10. They scored an 8.45 in the Acro Heat, a 9.30 in the Pyramid Heat, an almost perfect 9.50 in the Toss Heat, and finished with a 7.95 in the Tumbling Heat. They finished with a commanding lead of 35.20 to 29.10. This lead of six points would allow King to propel themselves through the rest of the meet.

Going into the second event, which was Acro. King started with a total value of 29.20 for the three heats. They scored 8.40 in the first heat, which was a 5-Element. They made a few mistakes through the next heat, which was 6-Element, and scored a 6.10. They then moved on to the 7-Element heat, where they scored an impressive 9.25. Francis Marion was able to cut into the lead, scoring 24.85 while King scored 23.75.

The third event, Pyramid, saw King have a start value of 29.50 and Francis Marion with a 30.00. King was unable to bounce back after the loss in the last event and allowed Francis Marion to win this event. With scores of 6.85 in heat one Inversion, 8.75 in heat two Synchronized, and an amazing 9.85 in heat three Open, which was the highest scored single heat of the day. They scored a total of 25.45 while Francis Marion scored 26.95.

After the break, they moved on to the fourth event, where King would shift the tide of the meet back in their favor in the Toss. King had a total start value of 27.40. They were able to score high in all three heats with an 8.80, 8.55, and 8.55 in 450 Salto, Synchronized, and Open, respectively. King had a score differential of 1.50, their best per heat of the day. Francis Marion and King both scored a 25.90 through the Toss event.

The fifth event was Tumbling, which King started with a value of 53.60, and Francis Marion had a value of 50.65. King was able to extend their lead yet again, winning 48.425 to 45.900.

King came into the Team event with a start value of 93.32, and Francis Marion had one of 88.76. King went first and was able to come put a stamp on the meet with a total of 74.17 of the team results. Francis Marion would not be able to come back with only scoring a 66.76. The final score was 232.895 for King and 219.460 for Francis Marion.
