Wingate, N.C. – The King University Acrobatics and Tumbling team traveled to Wingate this evening to look to continue their undefeated season. King was unable to keep the streak alive, falling to Wingate 250.920 to 213.145. With a tough showing in multiple events, King lost the lead after the first event and was not able to come back.
The Tornado started the day in the Compulsory event, where they had all four heats with a start value of 10. They scored a 7.95 in the Acro Heat, an 8.90 in the Pyramid Heat, an 8.70 in the Toss Heat, and finished with a 6.30 in the Tumbling Heat. Going into the second event, which was Acro. King started with a total value of 29.95 for the three heats. They scored 8.35 in the first heat, which was a 5-Element. The next heat, which was 6-Element, 7.45. They then moved on to the 7-Element heat, where they scored an impressive 9.05. King was able to have a better difference in start value with a 5.10 points difference.
The third event, Pyramid, saw King have a start value of 29.20 and Wingate with a 30.00. King was able to refocus for this event, only having a 3.80 difference in total and start value. With scores of 7.90 in heat one Inversion, 8.00 in heat two Synchronized, and an amazing 9.50 in heat three Open, which was the highest scored single heat of the day for King. They scored a total of 25.40 while Wingate scored 28.80.
After the break, King trailed 93.15 to 82.10 as they moved on to the fourth event, where King would have a rough Toss with a 5.20 point difference. King had a total start value of 27.40. They scored a 7.60, 7.45, and 7.15 in 450 Salto, Synchronized, and Open, respectively. Wingate would score a 24.10, and King would score a 22.20, which was the closest single event these two teams were separated by.
The fifth event was Tumbling, which King started with a value of 53.35, and Wingate had a value of 55.60. King was unable to cut into the lead, falling further behind, scoring 43.625 to Wingate's 51.250.
King came into the Team event with a start value of 94.32, and Wingate had one of 99.07. King went first and had a tough performance, scoring a 65.220, while Wingate scored an 82.420. Wingate would win the meet 250.920 to King's 213.145.
