Battle in Bristol King Falls to Young Harris

The Tornado fell in two close games at home to Young Harris

Bristol, Tenn. The King University Softball team battled through two games against Conference Carolinas opponent Young Harris in a doubleheader matchup in which King would fall in both games. The first game, Young Harris would win 5-3, then in the second game, they would win 5-0.
 
Game One:
 
In the first game, King and Young Harris were at a standstill as neither team scored a run in the first three innings, keeping the score 0-0 heading into the fourth. The first run on the board would come from the Mountain Lions scoring one in the fourth. The Tornado would come back in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single by Carlie Sheets to left field to score Savana Luper to bring back a tied game.
 
Young Harris would score three in the top of the sixth with King responding with a two-run single up the middle by Luper to bring King back within striking distance, down 4-3 heading into the seventh. The Mountain Lions would add one more in the top of the seventh, and King was unable to respond, falling 5-3.
 
On the mound for King were Luper and Bradlie Warner. Luper pitched most of the game, pitching 6.0 innings, totaling two strikeouts and eight hits. Warner would give up two hits in her 1.0 inning pitched.
 
Aviah Bunsic and Aubrey King both got doubles, with each of them crossing home plate in game one. Sheets, Yuleesa Kennedy, and Luper all had one hit.
 
Game Two:
 
The second game was completely different from the first, with Young Harris winning 5-0, scoring runs in all but three innings. The Mountain Lions would score one run in the first inning to take the lead, while King was unable to respond at all throughout the game, falling in the second. Young Harris would have 11 hits while King would have three.
 
Kaylee Meeks threw a complete game for King, with seven strikeouts, only allowing five runs to score.  
 
Ella Richey had a double on her one hit for game two. King and Luper both each added another run.
 
Aubrey King and Kennedy both added a stolen base in the game.
 
Up Next: The Tornado will head back on the road, traveling to Lees McRae in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 1st, at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
