Bristol, Tenn.- The King University women's soccer team celebrated its first victory of the 2026 season and the first win under new head coach
Christian Castro, defeating Converse 2-1 in the home and conference opener at Parks Field on Saturday.
King struck first in the 27th minute when Victoria Thauer converted a pass from
Allie Chase to put the Tornado ahead. Just after the halftime break,
Ella Froehlich doubled the lead, finishing a setup from
Mia Van Groningen Dack in the 47th minute. The Tornado defense stood strong against late Converse pressure, with goalkeeper
Susan Schaaf making six saves.
Converse cut the deficit in the 77th minute with a strike from Charlie Morgan but could not find an equalizer as King secured the victory in front of 134 fans.
