BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's tennis team returned home to face Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey College. The Tornado earned a win at No. 1 doubles, but the Crusaders prevailed for the 8-1 wins.
Katya Cerny and Nia Gilliam got the Tornado (2-11, 2-6 CC) on the board with an 8-5 win over Katharine Miller and Alex Weber. However, the Crusaders (4-11, 2-4 CC) rebounded to take the No. 2 doubles match 8-1 and the third flight by default.
Belmont Abbey then clinched the match by winning all six singles matches, taking the dual 8-1. Cerny dropped a tight 6-4, 7-5 battled at No. 2 singles to Weber for the Tornado.
King will be in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Appalachian State University. First serve is slated for 2:30 p.m.
