WILSON, N.C. – The King University women's tennis team continued Conference Carolinas play on the road Saturday at Barton College. The Bulldogs started the match with three wins at doubles before taking all six singles matches for the 9-0 victory.
Starting things off for King (1-8, 1-4 CC) was the No. 1 doubles team of Katya Cerny and Nia Gilliam falling to Smiljana Kijajic and Alicia Lasry 8-2. Barton (2-4, 2-0 CC) took the next two doubles matches, opening their lead to 3-0.
In singles play, Gilliam fell at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-0 before Cerny fell at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Haley Maloney fell 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 and Amanda Huffaker dropped her match at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1. Pearl Annan lost at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-3 to finish the day for the Tornado.
The Tornado will be back in action next on Friday, March 20 when they play host to North Greenville University.
