BRISTOL, Tenn. – Madi Matthews helped the King University women's swimming team to a win over Mars Hill University over the weekend and she was selected Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week.
Matthews was instrumental in King's 133-110 win at Mars Hill. The Franklin, Pa., native won both the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle events. She posted a 50 yard freestyle time of 25.63 seconds, winning the even by 0.4 seconds. She then won the 100 yard freestyle by 0.3 seconds with a time of 55.65 seconds. She then helped the 100 yard freestyle relay team finish second with a time of 3:50.86.
This marks the first time in her career that Matthews has been selected Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week.
The Tornado will be in action again on Friday at Emory & Henry College. King will also face Milligan College as the meet is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
