Tornado finish 6th at Conference Championships

CARY, N.C. – The King University women's swim team finished Conference Championships in sixth place as a team after concluding the final day of competition on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Day 1

• Isa Cabrera opened the meet with a 11:24.44 time in the 1000 yard freestyle for a 13th place finish. Derin Yerlikaya finished in 15th her time of 11:48.07.
• The relay team of Abigail Hogben, Jordan Houck, Liz Candanedo Furio, and Reese Lauletta finished in 6th place in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:54.25.
• Katie Koenst, Avery Banes, Alice Schoemans, and Yerlikaya swam a combined 8:08.53 in the 800-yard freestyle relay for 5th place.

Day 2

• Cabrera and Lauletta finished in 13th and 15th place in the 500-yard Freestyle, with times of 5:24.57 and 5:30.38 respectively.
• Schoemans finished in 8th in the 200-yard Individual Medley with her time of 2:14.45 in the A-Final.
• The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Koenst, Candanedo Furio, Schoemans, and Banes finished with a time of 1:41.69 and a sixth place finish.

Day 3

• Schoemans took sixth place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:45.57 to open the evening's finals. Yerlikaya finished in 13th with a time of 5:07.10.
• Koenst made the A-Final in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing at 59.82 for seventh place. Candanedo Furio finished at 1:00.19 to take 12th. Koenst also took fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1:06.54.
• In the 200-yard freestyle, Banes took 16h with a time of 2:04.79.
• Houck finished 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1:11.72.
• Hogben won the consolation final of the 100-yard backstroke when she touched the wall at 1:00.66.
• Hogben, Koenst, Lauletta, and Schoemans swam the 400-yard medley relay, finishing sixth with a total time of 4:05.59.

Day 4

• Yerlikaya swam a 19:22.72 in the 1650-yard freestyle to take 12^th place. Wilson took 15^th with a time of 20:22.84.
• In the 200-yard backstroke, Hogben took sixth, touching the wall at 2:10.68.
• Koenst took sixth with a time of 53.04 in the 100-yard freestyle.
• The Tornado had another sixth place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke as Schoemans swam a 2:27.15. Houck swam a 2:36.92 in the B-Finals to take 12^th.
• King had three swimmers in the 200-yard butterfly Consolation Finals. Cabrera finished in 9^th (2:14.60), Candanedo Furio took 12^th (2:18.86), and Lauletta was right behind her at 13^th (2:19.31).
• The women's team concluded their meet with a sixth place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Koenst, Banes, Schoemans, and Yerlikaya swam a 3:43.37.
