Tornado finish 5th at season-opening King Invite

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The King University women's swimming team opened the season with a fifth-place finish at the King Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Madi Matthews started the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 50 yard freestyle, with a finishing time of 25.53 seconds.
She would later finish fourth in the 100 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 56.33 seconds.
The 200 yard freestyle team of Reese Lauletta, Lynsey Knox, Matthews and Fanny Legros finished 10th with a time of 1:47.86, with another King team consisting of Samantha Davis, Gwen Haag, Michelle Morlock and Ashley Woods finishing in 11th.
Legros would record a top-10 finish in the 500 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:40.05 seconds.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Davis, Abbie Erme, Lauletta and Elizabeth Rehkopf finished 8th with a finals time of 2:02.03.
Erme finished 10th in the 100 yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:13.44, with Legros right behind her in 1:13.50.
Lauletta finished the 100 yard butterfly in 1:03.79, placing eighth.
The Tornado finished ninth in the 400 yard freestyle relay, with the team of Legros, Lauletta, Rehkopf and Matthews touching the wall in 3:57.48.

UP NEXT

The Tornado will be back in the water on Oct. 28 when they compete in their first dual meet of the season at Emory & Henry.
