HICKORY, N.C. – The King University women's swimming and diving team dropped their first dual of the semester Saturday, falling to nonconference opponent Lenoir-Rhyne University 156.5-96.5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tornado got their first win in the 1000 yard freestyle, where Fanny Legros finished with a final time of 11:32.86 to win by over nine seconds.
- Cassie Lowe also picked up a win, as she finished the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.40 to claim the first event win of her Tornado career.
- In the 100 yard breaststroke, it was a clean sweep of the top three for King, led by Abbie Erme, who finished first with a time of 1:11.86. Finishing just behind her was Gwen Haag, who came second with a time of 1:14.48 and Legros, who was third with a time of 1:14.89.
- Lowe won her second event of the day in the 500 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:32.75, finishing 17 seconds ahead of Elizabeth Rehkopf, who placed second.
- Lowe also had a runner-up finish in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in 2:01.89, with Rehkopf finishing third with a time of 2:08.76.
- In the 50 yard backstroke, it was Samantha Davis who finished runner-up, with a time of 30.74 seconds.
- Erme swam the 50 yard breaststroke in 33.17 seconds to come in second.
- The Tornado 400 yard relay team consisting of Lowe, Davis, Rehkopf and Madi Matthews finished the dual with a strong showing in the 400 yard freestyle relay, finishing in 3:52.03
UP NEXT
- The Tornado are back in the pool Friday night, when they host Emory & Henry at Tennessee High School, with the meet scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
- Lenoir-Rhyne will close their regular season on Saturday when they compete at the UNC Pembroke Tri-Meet, where they will face Roanoke and UNC Pembroke.
