Weston Joyner scored a pair of second half goals Thursday night as the King University men's soccer team won their first match of the season, 2-1 over Shorter University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After 38 minutes of scoreless play, Shorter got on the board with a penalty kick goal, taking the 1-0 lead.
- Coming out of halftime, Joyner needed just six minutes to find the back of the net, leveling the score in the 52 nd minute.
- He would add the game-winning goal in the 74 th minute, using a free kick to beat the keeper and putting King in front 2-1.
- Gauthier Lumale, making his Tornado debut, made four saves on the night, but was untested in the final 15 minutes, with Shorter's lone shot sailing wide right in the 89 th minute as the Tornado held on for their first win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- This was Joyner's second career multi-goal game, with his first coming Sept. 7 of last year.
- During his Tornado career, Joyner has now scored six times.
- Conrado Mate Rothgerber had three shots on the night in his first action in a King jersey, while Tijani Ali Khelifaoui had two goals, one of which was on net.
FOR THE FOES
- Miguel Souza was the goal scorer for Shorter, finishing with two shots on goal in 81 minutes played.
- Mattia Maiello had three shots, one of which was on goal. He was also one of four Hawks to play the full 90 minutes on the night.
