JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The King University baseball team closed their opening series at Carson-Newman University on Sunday afternoon. The Tornado got off to a hot start, scoring three runs in the first inning, however, the Eagles came back to take the contest 13-3.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Josh Nuno hit his first home run of the season.
- Michael Starrs posted two hits while Andrew Bryan posted three walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nuno started the contest with a home run on the second pitch of the contest.
- The Tornado followed with a pair of walks and a sacrifice bunt before singles from Nathan Borchardt and Misael Garcia gave King a 3-0.
- Carson-Newman responded with a leadoff single before consecutive one-out singles plated one run.
- King then turned a double play to end the inning and keep the 3-1 lead.
- The Tornado threatened with two one-out baserunners, but couldn't push any more runs across.
- Carson-Newman evened the tally at 3-3 on a two-run home run from Harrison Travis in the third inning.
- The Eagles then took the lead on a two-run, one-out triple by Dalton McLain in the fourth inning.
- The inning continued for Carson-Newman as they tacked on four more runs, two on a double from Nicholas Castellana to take a 9-3 lead.
- The Eagles added two runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 13-3 lead.
- King couldn't get the offense going again as the Eagles took the contest 13-3.

- Travis drove in four runs on two hits.
