ALEXANDRIA, Egypt—
Eliana Bommarito of King University continued to cement her legacy as one of women's beach wrestling's all-time greats, clinching the gold medal in the +70 kg division at the Beach Wrestling World Series Final.
Bommarito's march to the top was nothing short of dominant. In a stunning display of power and precision in the championship bout, she dispatched Ukraine's Iryna Pasichnyk with a flawless 5-0 victory by fall, wrapping up the match in a mere 50 seconds. Her aggressive, technically sound performance left no room for doubt about her supremacy on the sand.
Her journey through the tournament was a masterclass in consistency and control. Bommarito opened Group A play by pinning Greece's Aikaterini Eirini Pitsiava for a 4-1 win in 1:41, then secured a 3-1 triumph over Ukraine's Daria Konstantynova in 2:14. She closed out group action with a shutout 2-0 decision over Egypt's Samar Amer Ibrahim Hamza, emerging undefeated and atop her pool. In the semifinals, she overpowered Greece's Stefania Zacheila, earning a 3-0 technical superiority victory in just over two minutes.
With her latest triumph, Bommarito now boasts eight career Beach World Series individual gold medals, further elevating her status as a trailblazer for American women's beach wrestling. Her relentless work ethic and leadership on and off the mat continue to set the standard for excellence in the sport.
King University head coach Bret Fry lauded Bommarito's achievement: "That young lady is an amazing athlete and great human. The team and staff are not surprised that she's a world champion — we have a front row seat to watch how hard she works. She's a true leader on and off the mat. We are extremely proud of her."
Before joining King University, Bommarito was a two-time NJCAA national champion at Indian Hills Community College, a two-time Junior Nationals freestyle champion, and a multi-time Michigan state high school champion. Her gold medal in Alexandria is the latest milestone in a career defined by historic accomplishments and a pioneering spirit.
