Fry hired to lead King University women's wrestling

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University Athletic Department has announced the hire of Bret Fry as its second-ever head women's wrestling coach. Frye will begin his duties with the Tornado immediately.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Fry to the Tornado family," Co-Interim Athletic Directors Dawn Regan and Josh Thompson said in a joint statement. "We can't wait to watch him continue to guide our women's wrestling program to new heights."

Fry comes to King from Wyoming Seminary, where he has served as the head women's wrestling coach since 2021. Since arriving at Wyoming Seminary, he has guided the Blue Knights to a pair of team championships at the National Prep Wrestling Championships and was named was named Head Coach of the Year in 2024, a season in which he crowned five national champions.

"I am extremely honored to be part of the King university family," Fry said. "I am looking forward to continuing the success of a great women's program"

In addition to his coaching accolades, Fry is himself an accomplished wrestler, having won two consecutive USA Wrestling Master Level championships in freestyle, as well as a national championship in Greco. He was a two-time AAU National Champion in freestyle and was a California State runner-up.
