MYRTLE BEACH, SC. – The King University men's track and field team competed in the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship over three days of competition on April 24-26 to conclude their 2024-25 season.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED – MEN
- Freshmen, Nolen Carter, competed in the decathlon and placed 4th overall with a total score of 4,549 points. This is the first season ever that Conference Carolinas has contested the multis events at the conference championship. Carter placed 3rd in long jump (5.73m), 2nd in shot put (10.54m), 3rd in high jump (1.75m), 2nd in the 400 meter dash (54.56), 3rd in discus (22.69m), and 3rd in pole vault (2.75m).
- Junior, Lynden Johnson, and freshmen, Dominick Stevens, both competed in the 100 and 200 meter dash. In the 100, Johnson advanced to the finals by running a 10.52 in the preliminary round, where Stevens ran a 10.81. In the final, Johnson finished 8th overall with a time of 10.66. In the preliminary round of the 200, Johnson and Stevens ran times of 22.01 and 22.11, respectively.
- Freshmen, Jesse Owens, had a massive personal best of 3.5 meters in the hammer throw by achieving a best throw of 41.95m (137'7").
- Freshmen, Cole Johnson, ran a big personal best time of 1:58.84 in the 800 meter race, while fellow freshmen teammate, Spencer Utsey, ran a respectable 1:59.59 as well.
- Junior, Thomas Grant, narrowly missed his personal best time in the 400 meter dash, by running a time of 50.19 in the preliminary round.
- Senior, Skyler Miller, wrapped up his collegiate career in the 400 hurdles with an all-time best time of 1:00.04.
- Senior, Mason Sanders, and freshmen, Braydon Muhly, had strong efforts in the 3k steeplechase by finishing with times of 10:09.57 and 10:20.23, respectively. Sanders time was good enough for 8th place overall, outkicking another runner by just .01 seconds.
- Junior, Mackey Bonds, tied for 6th place in the high jump with a best jump of 1.94m (6'4.25").
- Freshmen, Nathan Rosson, smashed his own school record in the pole vault, by clearing 4.45m (14'7.25"). This was good enough for Rosson to get onto the podium finishing in 3rd place. Rosson almost went out on 3.95m after missing on his first two attempts. After clearing 3.95m on his 3rd attempt, Rosson went on to clear 4.10m, 4.25m, and 4.35m on his first attempt. Once the bar was raised to 4.45m, Rosson missed his first two attempts again, but cleared on his 3rd attempt.
- The men's 4x100 relay team consisting of: Dominick Stevens, Braylon Hammond, Thomas Grant, and Lynden Johnson, placed 5th overall with a time of 41.72.
- Sophomore, Sean Kilpatrick, came in to the 5k seeded 15th overall, but rose to the occasion by running a tactical race and finishing 8th overall with a time of 15:43.23.
- Freshmen, Noah Gilliam, finished in the top 15 in the shot put with a best heave of 12.57m (41'3").
- Junior, Zach Stroin, continued his trend of consistency and showed up big in the javelin throw by throwing a new all-time best of 51.41m (168'8"), which claimed 4th place for Stroin.
