McCormick, S.C. – The King University Men's Golf team headed to the Savannah Lakes Invitational, opening the first day today.
Garrett Wellman led the way for King through day one, currently sitting in 25
th place.
Wellman started the day off strong with two birdies through his first four holes. He would add two more birdies over the next 14 holes, finishing the first round at +1. In the second round today, he hit his stride with five birdies through 18 and shot a -3 to push him up 19 places into 25
th.
Deagan Erfmann had a tough first round; after a second-hole birdie, he would only get one more on hole four later in his round. He would finish with a +3 in the first round. The second round saw him light up with five birdies, shooting a -2 and finishing at +1 on the day in 42
nd place.
Nathan Hopley and
Tyler Sayers finished out Kings scoring four today, finishing the day at a +8 and finishing in 82
nd place. As a team, King currently stands in 16
th place with a +15.
