King Cycling Finishes Third at the SECCC Conference Championships

Flat Rock, N.C. – The King University Cycling team finished the 2026 SECCC Conference Championships with a third-place overall finish as a team. On the final day, King had five athletes finish in the top three of their groups.
 
The first event of the day was the XCC, which had Noah Hornbeck, Colin Horton, Alexa Whaley, and Kaitlyn Mezo all finish in the top three of each of their races.
 
Hornbeck competed in the Men's threes race, where his final lap pushed him into second place with a 5:02.9 lap. He finished the three-lap race in 15:17.6.
 
Horton was in the men's twos and threes race, where he was able to pull away from the rest of the pack and win the race by 15 seconds with a time of 16:44.7 for the four-lap race. Cayden Holmes was also in the Men's twos and threes race, where he finished in fourth place with a time of 17:21.8.
 
In the Men's ones and twos, Cooper Ward led the way for the Tornado with a time of 23:51.8 in the six-lap race, where he finished in 19^th place.
 
Jose Pena and Jayson Wallace finished second and third for King in the men's ones and twos with 32^nd and 34^th place, respectively. Pena finished with a time of 24:32.2, and Wallace finished in 24:51.3.
 
The Women's ones and twos had Alexa Davis, who finished one lap behind in 18^th place over four laps.
 
The Downhill races started in the afternoon with the Women's two and threes, where Whaley was able to earn second place with a time of 3:11.425.
 
Colin Burgess was able to finish in 18^th place in the Men's ones and twos with a time of 2:19.060. Noah Hornbeck finished in 31^st place with a time of 2:25.004.
 
Colin Horton competed in the Men's twos and threes with a time of 2:45.016 to finish in 22^nd place.
