Cycling starts day one of Lindsey Wilson Cycling Invite

Columbia, Ky. – The King University Cycling team competed at Lindsey Wilson for a cycling invite against multiple other colleges. With performances coming from Downhill Slalom and STXC on the first day of competition of the two day event.
 
In the men's side of the ones and twos in STXC Cooper Ward led the way for the men with a strong six laps earning 11 place with a finish time of 24:12.25. He did this with a strong opening three laps with splits of 3:44, 3:54, and 3:57.
 
Colin Horton and Nathan Feduniw were the next two King athletes in the ones and twos STXC in 20^th and 21^st place with time of 25:28.17 and 25:28.23.
 
Ashley Davis was the solo King Women's rider in the ones and twos STXC finishing in 11^th place. She crossed the finish line with a time of 21:21.72 through four laps with a strong opening split of 4:55.69 and a negative split final lap from her third lap of 8 seconds.
 
All three women in the STXC twos and threes finished in the top five. Alexa Whaley finished in first with a time of 23:10.6. Kaitlyn Mezo and Mashaila Fordham finished in third and fifth respectively.
 
Downhill Slalom started this afternoon with a qualifier. Colin Burgess led King in the ones and twos with a 16^th place pushing himself into the bracket. His qualifying time was 29.792 beating the next athlete by over a second. He would fall in the first round to the first place seed who would go on to win the meet.
 
In the Men's twos and threes for Downhill Slalom Noah Hornbeck, Hayden Fischer, and Karsten Fowler all made the bracket. Fowler was ranked 16^th falling in the first round. Fischer was ranked 10^th upsetting the 7^th ranked racer falling in the second round to his teammate Hornbeck. Hornbeck was ranked second starting the bracket and won three rounds back to back to send him to the Finals. He lost in the finals earning himself second place.
 
Whaley and Fordham both qualified for the Women's twos and threes Downhill Slalom. Fordham was ranked fourth passing through the first round and falling in the second to go to the Small Final losing that one as well earning fourth place. Whaley was able to fly through the first two rounds smoothly into the Final. She would lose in the final earning second place.
