Mount Olive hands King first conference loss

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's soccer team returned to Parks Field to face the University of Mount Olive in a Conference Carolinas match. The Trojans got on the board early, and added an insurance goal late to take the contest 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Mount Olive got on the board in the fifth minute on a goal from Malick Chune to grab the lead.
  • The Trojans pressured the Tornado in the first half, taking 10 shots to King's 2 with Kari Sveinsson making a pair of saves in the half.
  • Both of King's shots in the first half were on target.
  • King tried to net the equalizer early in the second half, but couldn't put their three shots in the first 15 minutes on target.
  • Mount Olive added an insurance goal in the 88th minute to take the contest.

FOR THE FOES

  • For Chune, that was his fourth goal of the season.
  • Cooper Gaypia scored the Trojans' insurance goal, marking his eighth tally of the season.

UP NEXT

  • King will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Barton College. Kickoff from Wilson, N.C. is slated for 4:00 p.m.
  • The match against Milligan College that was scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled for October 31 at 3:00 p.m. at Parks Field.
  • Mount Olive takes the field again on Wednesday when they host #3 Pfeiffer University.
