BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's soccer team battled one of the top teams in the conference Wednesday afternoon, but were unable to pull the upset, falling to Converse University 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a scoreless first half, with the lone shot on goal coming in the 28th minute when Converse took a shot that was stopped by Jack Hyatt.
- The Tornado defense did their jobs in the half, blocking five Converse shots before they reached the net.
- Business started to pick up in the second half, with both teams getting shots on goal in the first four minutes.
- King's shot came in the 48th minute when Pedro Herrera took a shot that was saved by the Valkyries goalkeeper.
- It was Converse who finally broke through onto the scoreboard, as they took a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute.
- Ruben Laureano took a shot in the 79th minute that was blocked by the Converse defense.
- After Collin Teperino made a trio of saves in the final 10 minutes, the Tornado had one final scoring chance late, as off a free kick, Marcell Szekeres took a shot that was blocked and eventually cleared.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Herrera's second-half shot was the lone shot on goal for the Tornado, who had three shots as a team.
- Hyatt made one save in net before Teperino stepped in and made eight saves in 62 minutes played.
FOR THE FOES
- Coming in at the half, Hayden Gensler was the goal scorer for Converse, taking a total of six shots, four of which were on goal.
- Owen Collins had the assist on the Valkyries' goal, while also taking three shots on goal himself.
