Samara Chavez of the King University women's wrestling team and
Efe Ertuzun of the King University men's swimming team have been chosen as the Delta Blues King Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Student-Athletes of the Month for November.
Chavez, a junior from Arlington, Texas, went 4-0 at the season-opening Eagle Madness, becoming co-champion with two wins via pin and a tech fall, which came in her opening match against Skye Shelmerdine of Minot State. After taking her next two matches via pin, she won a 12-6 decision over Emmanuel's Karissa Turnwall. She also competed at the NWCA All-Star Classic, taking on North Central College's Sydney Petzinger in an exhibition match, which she won via pin in 3:50.
Ertuzun, a freshman from Ismir, Turkey, set a school record in the 200 yard individual medley at the Bulldog Invite, with a time of 1:15.16 to break the record previously held by head coach Juan Somoza. Ertuzun also came within one second of an NCAA 'B' cut time in the 400 yard IM, touching the wall in 4:00.80. He also had a pair of event wins in a dual victory over Converse.
