BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Jessica Campbell of the King University softball team and
Trent Mahoney of the King University men's wrestling team have been selected as the Delta Blues King Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) student-athletes of the month.
Campbell, a junior from Graysville, Tenn., batted .476 in 19 games played during the month, with five home runs, a triple and a double, along with 18 RBI and six stolen bases. She set multiple season-highs, including hits (March 18 at Converse) and runs scored (March 31 at Emmanuel). On the season, she is batting .429, with seven home runs and 26 RBI, along with an active 16-game hitting streak.
Mahoney, a redshirt sophomore from Baton Rouge, La., earned NCAA Division II All-American honors after a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division II national championships. He went 3-3 at the national championships, including an opening round win over no. 3 Gabe Johnson of Central Oklahoma, a 9-3 decision. Mahoney finished the season 36-12 and became the eighth all-American in program history.
The Delta Blues King SAAC Student-Athlete of the Month award is voted on by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at their monthly meeting.
