King still ranked 3rd in NWCA Rankings with 12 individuals ranked

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's wrestling team remains ranked third in the latest latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) rankings. Victoria Baez-Dilone and Samara Chavez stay atop their respective weight classes as the Tornado have 12 individuals ranked.

King is one of three teams to have at least 10 individuals ranked, trailing only North Central College and the University of Iowa who both have 15. North Central are ranked first and second, respectively ahead of the Tornado.

In the dual poll, the Tornado are ranked fourth, with an 8-2 record. Iowa is atop the dual meet poll, with a 16-0 record while North Central is second and McKendree University is third.

Chavez continues to be the top-ranked wrestler at 116 pounds, going 9-0 on the season with three pins and four technical falls. She has won each of her last three matches via tech fall en route to winning the championship at the Tornado Open.

Baez-Dilone stays atop the 130-pound rankings as she is 19-1 on the season with 12 technical fall wins and three pins. She won her first 19 matches of the season and finished runner-up at the Bobcat Open on Sunday.

Jessica Corredor is ranked sixth at 101 pounds, with a 9-2 record on the season, including eight wins by technical fall. Avery Kibelbek moves up one spot to eight as she is 17-5 on the season, including a second-place finish at the Bobcat Open on Sunday.

Danielle Garcia is fourth in the latest rankings at 109 pounds with a 12-1 record on the season. She owns eight wins via pin and two via technical fall.

At 116 pounds, Melanie Mendoza joins Chavez in the rankings, with Mendoza ranked fifth. She went 4-0 at the Bobcat Open to take home the title.

Virginia Foard jumped Montana DeLawder 123 pounds, moving to third while DeLawder is still ranked fourth. Foard is 18-2 on the season, including two wins over DeLawder as she won the Bobcat Open. DeLawder finished runner-up at the Bobcat Open and is 18-3 on the season.

Claire DiCugno is still ranked sixth at 136 pounds after winning her least nine matches, including taking the Bobcat Open title. She is 22-1 on the season with 14 wins by technical fall and five by fall.

At 155 pounds, Chey Bowman is still ranked second after winning the Bobcat Open with a 4-0 record. She is a perfect 18-0 record on the season with eight wins by fall and seven by technical fall.

Alexa Garcia remains in the sixth spot, at 191 pounds with a 15-5 overall record. She has taken 11 wins by pin and finished runner-up at the Tornado Open.

The Tornado are scheduled to host Lincoln Memorial University at 6:00 p.m. tonight and Bluefield State University next Thursday at 6:00 p.m. before the NCWWC Region II Championships on February 23.

The next set of rankings are scheduled to come out prior to the NCWWC National Championships.
