Whitley, Johnson named Conference Carolinas Track Athletes of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Conference Carolinas announced the week 4 indoor track and field weekly awards on Tuesday morning. King swept the track awards with Morgan Whitley from the women's team and Lynden Johnson from the men's team being named the Track Athletes of the Week after their performances at the VMI Invitational last weekend.

Whitley, a senior from Danville, Virginia, competed in the mile at the meet finishing at 5:21.65 which is currently ranked in the top among the conference. She was also a member of the 4x800 relay team that broke the all-time school record with a combined time of 9:57.51, with Whitley running a 2:26.56 leg. She also ran the 1600 meter leg for the Distance Medley Relay team that finished in fourth place with her time of 5:22 as the relay combined for a time of 12:57.81.

Johnson, a junior, ran a 6.68 60 meter in the semi final round of the VMI Invitational, improving his own personal best, the all-time school record and currently ranks 4th in all of Division II. He also helped King in the 200 meter sprint with a time of 22.21.

The King University track and field team will be back in action on January 31 and February 1 at the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.
