BOONE, NC. – The King University women's track and field team competed at the Mountaineer First Chance Track & Field meet hosted by Appalachian State University on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The women's season started out with a strong statement from Ermay Vazquez-Adame who won the 1500 open section with a time of 5:03.59. Going into the final 400 meters she was approximately 50 meters behind the leader and Vazquez-Adame reeled her in with 150 meters to go running a final lap in 1:12. Vazquez-Adame also competed in the elite 800 meter section and finished 4th overall with a time of 2:24.84. She also achieved the Conference Standard for the 1500 as well as the 800, so she is automatically qualified to participate in the Conference Championship for both events.
- Emily Ward ran an all-time best in the 1500 with a time of 5:16.55, good for 7th place overall in the open section.
- Samaya Armstead finished 7th overall in the long jump with a best jump of 5.00m (16'4.75").
- Mandy Lowery finished 3rd in the 800 open section with a time of 2:33.50.
- In the women's elite 1500 section, Morgan Whitley finished with a time of 5:02.03. This time is 10 seconds under the Conference Standard.
