Spartanburg, S.C.- The Men's Soccer team faced a tough test on the road, falling 5-1 to Converse University in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday night at Hayden Abney Fulp Field at Weisiger Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C. Despite a strong effort in the second half, the Tornado could not overcome an early deficit against a high-powered Converse attack.
Game Recap:
Converse set the tone early, scoring twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Men's Soccer responded in the second half with increased pressure and attacking play, but Converse continued to find the net, adding three more goals after the break.
Simeon Adair scored the lone goal for the Tornado, finishing one of King's four shots on goal.
King finished with seven shots and six corners, but the Converse defense and goalkeeper Thiago Ausland held firm, making three saves.
Daniel Cavanaugh played the full 90 minutes in goal for King, making one save against 14 shots from Converse.
